How to clean thermal/cooler bags? What should you do for the odor in insulated bags?
It is easy to have bad odors in daily use insulated bags, especially, commercial users such as a food deliver. With more than 30 years of manufacturing experience, Snowberry here to telling you the ways to clean thermal bags / cooler bags without damage its material and also keep it clean.
(A)Clean the outside of the thermal/cooler bags:
Before you clean your bags, you have to check what the material of your bags is. You can pour some water on its surface and press . Then, you need to observe if the bag absorb the water. If yes, please wipe the surface with wet cloth and then leave the bag in a cool, well-ventilated place till it is completely dry. Please make sure the surface is completely dry before storing or the fumgus might grow on the damp surface. When it happens, you need to clean the surface with soft cleaner. However, the soft cleaner may cause the color fading. If the surface material of you bag doesn’t absorb the water, it is easier to clean. You can wipe it with wet cloth and then wipe again with dry cloth.
(B)Clean the inside of the bags:
There are two kinds of bag lining, waterproof lining and sewing lining. Waterproof lining is easier to clean. You can pour some water into the bag for cleaning. If it is with odor, you can wipe with (neutral spirits). Please make sure it is completely dry before storing. For the bag with weave lining, please watch if the interspace under lining is damp. If it is, you need to leave it in a cool, well-ventilated place till it is completely dry. In many cases, the odor inside the bag is because the soup / juice damp the lining when you carry the food. You can wipe with (neutral spirits) and dry it in a cool, well-ventilated place for 2 to 5 days. For the daily use bags, we suggest clean the bag once a week to avoid the odor.
(C)The lifespan of thermal bags / cooler bags:
The daily use food bags may collect the food odor easily. In this case, we would suggest changing the bag about every 1-2 years. It is not because of the damage of the bag but it might grow bacteria inside the bag. The bags that use for food delivery service, we would suggest changing the bags every year. Bags for beverage delivery service have less odor problem. Beverages are sealed before delivery normally. The bags from Snowberry are very durable.
